Fisheries Research The Yukon River drainage is the fifth largest watershed in North America. Much of this area is rugged and nearly inaccessible wilderness with a very small human population. Learning more about the salmon resources in this vast area presents some special challenges. Visit the Yukon River Tagging Project to learn more about how we're estimating the total population of fall chum salmon in the upper Yukon River.
